In 2017, director R. S. Prasanna remade his own Tamil film Kalyana Samayal Saadham (2013) by transposing the story from Chennai to Delhi. Like the original, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan is a delightful film about erectile dysfunction – a topic that's probably never been addressed in a Hindi film before.

The film centres around Mudit and Sugandha who are in the throes of wedding prep. An evening of thwarted passion leads to the discovery that Mudit has, what he calls, 'a gents' problem.' Writer Hitesh Kewalya uses a limp biscuit to illustrate his point. At another point in the film, Sugandha's mom, played by the fabulous Seema Pahwa, compares a woman's body to a mysterious gufa, which opens up only for Alibaba and not for the chaalis chor. Nothing here seems vulgar or tacky.

Kewalya's humorous writing is ably supported by lead actors Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar, along with a strong support cast that includes actors like Brijendra Kala, Anshul Chauhan, Neeraj Sood and Chittaranjan Tripathy.

Shubh Mangal Saavdhan was produced by director Aanand L Rai. Click Below to download the script.
