Queen Charlotte is a spin-off series from the popular Netflix show Bridgerton and reimagines the backstory of Queen Charlotte (India Ria Amarteifio), played by Golda Rosheuvel in Bridgerton and an actual queen of Great Britain from 1761 to 1818. She was married to King George III, played by the delicious Corey Mylchreest in the show, and the series uses their relationship to talk about the challenges of mental illness and the shame that comes with it. Showrunner Shonda Rhimes also gives us a queer love story and friendship between older women (look out for the episode about “gardens in bloom”).

Jubilee is a captivating new drama series on Amazon Prime Video that takes you back in time to the Forties and Fifties. Set against the backdrop of the Partition of India and Pakistan, Jubilee skillfully juxtaposes the evolution of a young film industry with the state of a new nation. Dead Ringers, based on David Cronenberg’s 1988 horror-thriller film by the same name, is a newly released web series on Amazon Prime Video. It follows twin gynecologists Elliot and Beverly Mantle, played by Rachel Weisz. The series is a psychological thriller that explores the disturbing relationship between the twins and their patient. Fans of the original film will appreciate the series’ faithfulness to the source material, as well as its updated plot and modern aesthetic.
