Attention Filmmakers! Here’s Your Chance To Make A Short Film In 20 Lakh

Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit is commissioning the production of 4 original cinematic short films from India on the topic of women entrepreneurship. The formats are Animation, Documentary & Short Fiction.

Have you always carried a script around looking for that one producer who will show interest in your short film and will back it with full gusto? Have you always worked hard on your craft so that when you get your one chance you can show the world what metal you're made off? Then guess what? This is your chance to make a short film you will always be proud of. After the production, the short films will be screened across India and internationally. It will travel to film festivals as well.

Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is implementing the project 'Her&Now – Empowering Women Entrepreneurs' on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and in partnership with the Indian Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. For its film and media campaign the project is commissioning the production of 4 original cinematic short films from India on the topic of women entrepreneurship.

  • 2 fiction short films,
  • 1 documentary short film
  • 1 animation film 

4 Indian filmmakers with an experience of at least 5 years will get this once in a lifetime opportunity to receive a film production grant of up to 20 lacs Indian rupees per short film to tell a  story about an ambitious and courageous woman entrepreneur who breaks stereotypes and is an inspiration for future generations.

We are looking for stories which are deeply rooted in the Indian milieu and hence can be in any Indian language or dialect. We want to make high quality, cinematic short films which can bring a widespread change of mindsets, appeal to larger communities and creatively change the state of women entrepreneurship. We believe that films with established cast and known faces will help the campaign to reach a larger set of audiences around the world. 

In the first phase, the interested filmmakers are encouraged to send their showreel/portfolio until 14th of October 2019

If selected, you will be asked to pitch an original idea for the film. The final delivery of the film is in March 2020 post which there will be screenings in India and internationally. The films will have a Digital Release at the end of the campaign.
