Baradwaj Rangan Answers All Your Questions About Sridevi Movies

We answer your questions on the late actress's top performances and movies

Baradwaj Rangan

This week on #AskBR, our FC South editor Baradwaj Rangan takes your questions on Sridevi movies. He discusses her best movies, top performances, her co-stars Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan and much more.

Excerpts from the conversation:

Sridevi adapted herself to changing times. She not only modified her acting skills and dialogue delivery but also worked on her hair, make up, wardrobe, dance. What are your favourite Sridevi movies in Tamil.

Moondru Mudichu, 16 Vayathinile, Sigappu Rojakkal, Johnny, Varumayi Niram Sivappu, Meendum Kokila. And Moondram Pirai, which is easily her best film in Tamil and in Hindi put together.

If you had to describe the quintessential 'Sridevi film' in terms of the salient features of her acting, what would you pick?

It's such a cliche, but I would pick Moondram Pirai which by far her best film because it taps into the adult side of her, the glamorous side of her, the seductive side of her and that child women she was. It really is not only the quintessential Sridevi performance but also the quintessential Sridevi role, the kind of role where the star's image melts perfectly with the character. It doesn't happen very often but it happened with Moondram Pirai for Sridevi.

How you react to the media coverage this funeral got?

It is terrible. You know we also have to think about one thing, this is happening because we are giving the TRP's, we are giving them the eyeballs, we are watching this, we are constantly looking at what is happening. It works two ways. They are doing this because we are contributing to the viewership and if you choose to look the other way it would not happen if they did not get the audience.
