Ganapath: A Hero is Born, featuring the trio of Tiger Shroff, Kriti Sanon, and Amitabh Bachchan, is an apocalyptic action film under the directorial helm of Vikas Bahl and the production banner of Pooja Entertainment. Despite aiming to be a path-breaking actioner, the film fell short of expectations both critically and commercially. According to Sacnilk, the film collected only Rs. 6.9 crore in its opening weekend.

Reportedly made with a budget of Rs. 200 crore, Ganapath finds itself struggling to break even. Usually, there is a surge in weekend ticket sales, but in the case of Ganapath, the trajectory has remained consistently flat. On Friday, the film made approximately Rs. 2.5 crore on Friday, followed by Rs. 2.25 crore and Rs. 2.15 crore on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

Shroff's previous outing, Heropanti 2 (2022), despite a notable lack of critical enthusiasm, managed to amass Rs. 16 crore on its opening weekend and its lifetime earnings came to Rs. 35.13 crore. Meanwhile, director Vikas Bahl, best known for Queen (2013), has struggled to find audiences for his recent films. His last release was Goodbye (2022), also featuring Amitabh Bachchan, which also struggled at the box office, garnering a modest Rs. 6.02 crore in its inaugural week.

Compared to Goodbye, made on an estimated budget of Rs. 20 crore, and Heropanti 2, with its budget of Rs. 70 crore, the stakes are considerably higher for both Shroff and Bahl with Ganapath. They’ll be hoping collections pick up, but if trends are any indication, the future looks bleaker than the dystopia they’ve depicted in the film.
