Last week saw the release of Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (TBMAUJ), an entertaining caper in which a robotics engineer (Shahid Kapoor) falls in love with a robot (Kriti Sanon) that can do every task. The film, which also stars Dimple Kapadia and Dharmendra, has a lively soundtrack — with tracks like “Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya Title Song” and “Laal Peeli Akhiyaan” inspiring many an Instagram reel.

According to box office tracker Sacnilk Entertainment, TBMAUJ has earned approximately Rs. 27 crore so far at the domestic box office. After earning Rs. 6.7 crore on the opening day, the numbers showed an upward trend over the weekend, with Rs. 9.65 crore on Saturday and Rs. 10.75 on Sunday.

For Kapoor, who has seen OTT success in the last year with Farzi and Bloody Daddy, TBMAUJ comes out on the heels of theatrical flub Jersey (2022). Sanon’s previous two outings Adipurush and Ganapath were also box office bombs.

Film distributor Akshaye Rathi said, “Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya has opened with fairly respectable numbers over the first weekend. It’s more of an urban phenomenon, but in the markets where it is doing well, the entertainment quotient of the film seems to be connecting with people. More so, I think the songs are very catchy, and definitely catapulted the film to its numbers over the weekend. From Monday, for films like these, it’s the merit of the content that takes over.” As such, the film’s performance in the week ahead will determine if it is a box-office hit.
