It's the movie event of the year, by all accounts. There's even statistical evidence that Bahubali 2: The Conclusion is the most eagerly awaited film franchise among movie-goers.
While SS Rajamouli's mega-budget first instalment, which released in 2015, was expected to do well in the south, its breakout pan-Indian performance took many by surprise. Bahubali 2 will now have to contend with the outrageous hype and anticipation generated by past success.
Keeping that in mind, this is a self-aware trailer that projects every bit of the Hollywood-style CGI fantasia, stylised warrior fight sequences and immersive mythology that fans are hankering for.
Bahubali: The Beginning introduced us all to Shiva (Prabhas), who might be the son of Amarendra Baahubali (Prabhas, again), the deceased king of the mighty land of Mahishmati. Rana Daggubati starred as his nemesis Bhallaladeva while Tamannaah Bhatia was Shiva's paramour Avanthika. The epic saga ended with a cliff-hanger as Amarendra Baahubali was ostensibly murdered by his uncle and loyalist Kattappa.
This new clip nods towards the central mystery, which has launched fervid internet speculation and theorising, but offers no hints as to the reasons behind Kattappa's treachery. For that, mark your calendars to April 28.
