10 SECOND TAKE: Both Deepika Padukone and Kangana Ranaut chose Zuhair Murad for the premiere of Sorry Angel. That's two Zuhair Murad gowns too many on the same red carpet. Plus, actor Aja Naomi King chose a Murad couture piece for the evening. (And that's more stars than the film got in its reviews, unfortunately.) Conventional? Yes. Pretty? Sure. But fairly uninspired.

ZUHAIR MURAD vs ZUHAIR MURAD: Ranaut roped in stylist, and former Vogue India fashion editor, Lorna McGee to style her for the evening. The sheer, grey gown she picked featured metallic embellishments and a deep cut back – a win on both accounts. Ranaut's curls and metallic eyes brought the drama. Enough to skip accessories altogether.

The embroidery on Padukone's cape-gown threatened to swallow her whole, but at least it made for some statuesque pictures. The gently tonged hair by Georgiou Gabriel and dewy, neutral make-up by Sandhya Shekar pulled the look together.

ZUHAIR MURAD 101: The Lebanese designer has a penchant for making princess-pretty dresses. The Beirut-based label is a little over 20 years old and among the few to invest heavily in couture creations shown in Paris. It's his attention to craft and fabric that's made him a go-to designer for brides and red carpet events. He's known to play sheer fabrics and overlays and decadent lace. And has fans in Jennifer Lopez, Sofia Vergara, Hailey Baldwin, Alessandra Ambrosio among others.
