Here's a round up of the big announcements made during lockdown of upcoming movies from the Hindi film industry.

While it hasn't been the best year for film production, and film releases (theatrically), it's been a pretty eventful one in terms of film announcements. While things were on hold, the industry has been hard at work developing their next projects with multiple announcements of new movies and exciting collaborations. Here's a round up of the big announcements made during lockdown of upcoming movies from the Hindi film industry.

Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui

It's Ayushmann Khurrana and Vaani Kapoor for Abhishek Kapoor's next. Produced by Bhushan Kumar and Pragya Kapoor, the film has been described as a modern love story.

Badhaai Do

The next in the Badhaai Ho franchise (yes it's now a franchise) stars Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar. The film will be directed by Harshvardhan Kulkarni (Hunterrr) produced by Junglee Pictures.

Pippa

Airlift filmmaker Raja Krishna Menon joins hands with Roy Kapur Films and Ronnie Screwvala for a war drama set in 1971 starring Ishaan Khatter, Mrunal Thakur, Priyankshu Painyuli and Soni Razdan. Pippa is reportedly based on the book The Burning Chaffees by Balram Singh Mehta.

Cirkus

Rohit Shetty's next sees him reunite with his Simmba star Ranveer Singh for an adaptation of Shakespeare's The Comedy Of Errors titled Cirkus. The play, one of Shakespeare's most farcical, revolves around two sets of identical twins who are separated at birth and then find themselves in a series of wild misadventures based on their mistaken identities. Jacqueline Fernandez, Pooja Hegde and Varun Sharma also star.

Love Hostel

Many cinephiles have been waiting to see what Gurgaon director Shankan Raman does next and we finally have our answer. He'll be helming a crime thriller, co-produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Drishyam Films, which reportedly stars Bobby Deol, Vikrant Massey and Sanya Malhotra. 

14 Phere

Chintu Ka Birthday co-director Devanshu Singh's next is a 'social-comedy' from Zee Studios with an ensemble cast including Vikrant Massey, Kriti Kharbanda, Gauhar Khan, Vineet Kumar, Vinay Pathak, Govind Pandey and Yamini Das.

The Hindi Remake Of Maanagaram

We might as well rename this the 'Vikrant Massey list' by the point. He's also set to star in Santosh Sivan's next a remake Tamil film Maanagaram, about four men who get tangled up in a cycle of revenge. The remake is being written by Amit Joshi and Aradhana Debnath. 

Vishal Bhardwaj's Agatha Christie Adaptation

Speaking of Shakespeare, after the Bard, Vishal Bhardwaj has set his sights on a new set of literary classics for his next. The acclaimed filmmaker has announced a  film franchise based on the novels by Agatha Christie. You can just take our money now.

Naagin (The Movie)

Need more Naagin in your life? Well rejoice because the popular TV show is getting a big screen adaptation starring Shraddha Kapoor in what is reported to be a three film franchise from director Vishal Furia.

Bhediya

Stree director Amar Kaushik's next has been described as a 'monster satire' and stars Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon. Produced by Maddock Films, the film is written by Niren Bhatt.

Nag Ashwin's Next

The as-yet-untitled film is said to be a pan India film with Prabhas and Deepika Padukone in the lead. More recently, Amitabh Bachchan has also joined the cast. The makers are planning to begin shooting next year. In the meanwhile, they're hoping to bring some more A-listers on-board.
