At a time when you're spoilt for choice with thousands of movies and shows to choose from, it's normal to feel a little lost while selecting what to watch next. While you may have already binge watched some of the award-winning popular shows on Amazon Prime Video like The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel or Fleabag, you may have missed out on some of the hidden gems on the platform. Here are three shows that are a must-watch.

The Man In The High Castle

The Man In The High Castle beautifully merges history with fiction and transports you to 1960s America. We see an alternate history where Germany and Japan rule the world after their victory in World War II. Based on Philip K. Dick's 1962 Hugo Award-winning novel of the same name, this dystopian show might appear slow in pace at times but not for once is it tedious. Nazi propaganda is shown as rampant and it also casts a light on how art, literature and anything that could express one's freedom were banned. Even though it's an alternate historical representation, it makes you feel like a voyeur, witnessing the horrors of the Nazi rule. It's haunting, to say the least.

Mozart In The Jungle

Music lover or not, please drop everything and watch Mozart In The Jungle right now. This comedy-drama series draws the viewer in right from the first episode with its pacy script and powerful performances. Gael García Bernal's charm as the eccentric new conductor of the New York Symphony, Rodrigo De Souza (a character based on Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel), is irresistible. Bernal is ably supported by a solid cast – the president of the New York Symphony Gloria Windsor (Bernadette Peters), the outgoing maestro of the New York Symphony Thomas Pembridge (Malcolm McDowell), sultry cellist Cynthia Taylor (Saffron Burrows) and wannabe oboist Hailey Rutledge, who's desperately waiting for her big break (Lola Kirke). Based on Mozart in the Jungle: Sex, Drugs, and Classical Music, the 2005 memoir of oboist Blair Tindall, the show doesn't have one dull moment. Winner of Golden Globe Awards and Primetime Emmy Awards, it manages to strike an excellent balance between comedy and drama.

Penny Dreadful

Iconic characters from famous horror novels – Dorian Gray from Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray, Count Dracula from Bram Stoker's Dracula, Victor Frankenstein from Mary Shelley's Frankenstein or Henry Jekyll from Robert Louis Stevenson's Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde – find a place in Amazon Prime's gothic horror drama series Penny Dreadful. If you're a fan of the horror genre, this three-season show will be a treat to watch. It's packed with plenty of uneasy supernatural scares and chills. Starring Eva Green, Rory Kinnear, Harry Treadaway, Reeve Carney and Josh Hartnett, Penny Dreadful is a treasure trove of acting talent and explores the set-up of a gloomy and eerie Victorian London extremely well. Created by John Logan (who is also the executive producer with Sam Mendes), Penny Dreadful has a good amount of blood and gore and it surely isn't for the faint-hearted. If you're tired of watching feel-good shows, this will shake things up a bit.
