In KGF: Chapter 1, Rocky Bhai (Yash) was the all-encompassing boss, and the teaser of the sequel that released on January 7 at 9.29 pm reinforced that. Prashanth Neel, the director of the KGF films, had announced that the teaser would release on January 8, in time for Yash's birthday, but it was released a whole night earlier after some miscreants leaked it on social media. The teaser was out on the YouTube channel of producers Hombale Films.

The teaser runs on the power of a voiceover that rekindles memories of the first part and takes it a notch up from there. Also, many new cast members have joined the sequel, but we don't get to see them flex their muscles. While actors from Bollywood such as Sanjay Dutt and Raveena Tandon are seen in the teaser, Rao Ramesh from the neighboring Telugu film industry makes a blink-and-miss appearance. Of course, there's also Srinidhi Shetty, and the man of the moment himself putting together a Gatling gun and firing away at police jeeps.

If there's one thing that's very evident from watching the teaser, it's the work done by the art department. It looks like Chapter 2 is set in the post-apocalyptic world. The greys and the browns of the terrain can easily remind you of the Hollywood mega blockbuster Mad Max: Fury Road (2015), directed by George Miller. From the eerie dark roads to the near-dusty clouds, the inspiration seems uncanny.

Well, once the film releases in Kannada and four other languages, we'll have more meat to dig into. Until then, it's "Salaam Rocky Bhai" for the birthday boy.

In July 2020, on Sanjay Dutt's 61st birthday, Hombale Films had unveiled a character poster and the look of what is reported to be KGF: Chapter 2's main villain. "Adheera- Inspired By The Brutal Ways Of The Vikings" said various tweets sharing the look.  The Hindi version being distributed by Excel Pictures.

Hombale Films also announced its new project at exactly 2:09 PM on December 2, 2020. Titled Salaar, the film stars Prabhas, in what's his third big film announcement during the lockdown.
