The 94th Academy Awards were held in Los Angeles on March 27

The nominations for the much-anticipated 94th Academy Awards were revealed this evening. The event was hosted by actors Tracee Ellis Ross and Leslie Jordan, who announced the nominations across all 23 award categories. The ceremony will be held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles on March 27 at 5:30 pm PT (6:30 am IST on March 28 in India). Originally scheduled on February 27, it was postponed due to the Omicron surge.

Notably, Writing With Fire, an Indian documentary by Rintu Thomas and Sushmit Ghosh has been nominated in the Best Documentary Feature category. The film had earlier won the Special Jury (Impact For Change) and Audience awards at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival. Jane Campion became the first woman to be nominated twice for Best Director as her film, The Power Of The Dog, bagged 12 nominations, while Denis Villeneuve's epic Dune received 10.

The eligibility window for this year's Oscars was films releasing between March 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021 since the previous edition allowed a two-month extension of eligibility through the end of February 2021. The modified eligibility criteria from the 93rd Academy Awards were continued, thereby, not limiting the nominated films to the ones with theatrical runs.
