These days it feels like a real challenge to keep up with what's dropping when on which platform with new show announcements popping up all the time. That said, June promises to be yet another exciting month in the world of streaming with a wide range of stories. From a dystopian Indian sci-fi series, to the final season of Jessica Jones, to a new Amazon Prime Video comedy special, here are our picks of what's releasing this month across platforms.

Netflix

Leila

When: June 14th

The next highly anticipated Indian Netflix original series, based on Prayaag Akbar's novel of the same name, is a dystopian thriller set in the future where purity is law. What looks to be along the lines of an Indian Black Mirror, Leila follows the story of one woman's relentless search for her daughter. The show's directed by Deepa Mehta (Fire), Shanker Raman (Gurgaon) and Pawan Kumar (U-Turn) with a cast which includes Huma Qureshi, Siddharth and Rahul Khanna among others.

Black Mirror

When: June 5th

Speaking of Black Mirror, everyone's favourite haunting anthology show is back for Season 5 with new stories, new cast members and new life lessons about the horrors of technology set in the future we should have seen coming.

I Am Mother

When: 7th June

More sci-fi goodness. I Am Mother is a future-set thriller about a teenage girl who is the first of a new generation of humans to be raised by a robot designed to repopulate the earth after the extinction of humankind. That is until an injured stranger (Hilary Swank) arrives with news that calls into question everything. Consider us intrigued.

Jessica Jones: Season 3

When: 14th June

The final season of the last Marvel show to remain standing on Netflix after Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist were all cancelled, sees everyone's favourite PI with super strength go toe to toe with a 'highly intelligent psychopath'.

When: 21st June

A fine example of an independent film finding a space on the web, Aadish Keluskar's film which was among those in competition at the Mumbai Film Festival will soon be seen on Netflix. The provocative drama follows a young couple on a date in Mumbai and is aimed at exploring the violent, turbulent side of love.

Mind The Malhotras

When: June 7th

The latest Indian original series from Amazon Prime looks to be an enjoyable family of errors sitcom starring Cyrus Sahukar and Mini Mathur. The trailer promises a fun ensemble show with great one-liners.

Wonder Menon

When: TBC

Amazon Prime Video's latest stand up special features the platform's first comedy special from a female comic in Anu Menon. Menon's show covers deeply personal stories with sharp observations on marriage, motherhood, and family.

Absentia: Season 2

When: 14th June

Starring Castle's Stana Katic, Absentia is the story of an FBI agent who mysteriously disappears while hunting a serial killer only to reappear six years later, without any memory.

Chasing Happiness

When: 4th June

The documentary on the lives of the Jonas Brothers covers their journey from an ordinary family in New Jersey to becoming worldwide pop stars. This film explores their recent decision to get back together after a 6-year breakup as well as promises to provide a behind the scenes look at their lives.

When: 7th June

Comedian Vipul Goyal returns with the second season of his semi-autobiographical show about the life of a struggling comic. Season 2 sees him find new popularity and sees his adventures in trying to build himself as a brand.

The Aam Aadmi Family Season 3

When: 14th June

TVF's comedy about a quirky middle-class family returns for its third season. With more than 9 Million views on YouTube, the show stars Brijendra Kala, Lubna Salim, Sudheer Chaubeesi.

Comedy Shots

When: 7th June

ZEE5's official foray into the stand-up comedy space, Comedy Shots features performances from comic talent like Aadar Malik, Rahul Dua,  Sanjay Rajoura, Sumaira Sheikh among others. We can only hope that the platform champions new comedic voices who are yet to get their due.

When: 3rd June

The World Digital Premiere of the 2019 Tamil horror comedy about an autorickshaw driver who falls in love with a girl possessed by a ghost.

Kaafir

When: 15th June

Starring Dia Mirza and Mohit Raina, Kaafir follows the journey of a young Pakistani mother who comes into India and is unable to go back home. The show revolves around her relationship with her lawyer fighting to get her back home.

Bombers

When: 22nd June

With a promising cast including Varun Mitra, Aahana Kumra and Ranvir Shorey, Bombers sees the platform enter the sports drama space, which seems to have become a genre lapped up by the web with shows like Inside Edge and Selection Day. 

Kailasapuram

When: 5th June

A Telugu original series, the suspense thriller revolves around the life of 5 teenagers who get addicted to drugs and find themselves enter the world of drug peddling. Situations quickly escalate when one gets killed and the group face the reality of their choices.
