Maamannan, directed by Mari Selvaraj of Pariyerum Perumal (2018) and Karnan (2021) fame, is billed as Udhayanidhi Stalin’s last film as an actor. Several actors including Kamal Haasan and Sivakarthikeyan graced the film's audio launch, which was held on June 1. Addressing the media at the event, Udhayanidhi said, "Being a Minister of the State, I have decided to focus full-time on politics. There were talks for a film with Raaj Kamal Films International, but since my political career demands my attention, I am signing off as an actor, at least for the next three years. Even for Maamannan, I had to put in a lot of hard work to manage schedules, do dubbing, and attend audio launches. I can’t keep signing films considering the people’s expectations of me as a politician."

Maamannan features an ensemble cast that includes Vadivelu, Keerthy Suresh, and Fahadh Faasil. "Sidelining everyone, Vadivelu sir plays a unique and prominent role in the film," said the actor. Backed by Red Giant Movies, the film’s cinematography is by Theni Eswar, who also worked with Mari Selvaraj in Karnan. The film has music by AR Rahman, marking his first collaboration with Mari Selvaraj. Selva RK will spearhead the editing department.

Udhayanidhi further asserted that if and when he makes a comeback as an actor, his next film will be with Mari Selvaraj. He said, "We had a lot of discussions and I learnt a lot. I do share a great wavelength with Mari Selvaraj. We worked on each dialogue and scene, and I am happy that I am signing off with a good film. Maamannan talks politics." The makers are planning to release the film on June 29.
