With a little over 20 days left before the release of Ponniyin Selvan 2, the makers are leaving no stone unturned with their promotions. Adding to the much-hyped audio launch, they have now unveiled the behind-the-scenes video of Poonguzhali (Samuthura Kumari), played by Aishwarya Lekshmi.
The making video opens up with the introductory sequence of Poonguzhali from Ponniyin Selvan 1, complemented by the soothing music of ‘Alaikadal’. Following this, we get a few clippings of the character from the book and a few sketches done by the design team. We also get a few glimpses of Aishwarya Lekshmi rehearsing her dialogues. But the major highlight of the video has to be the images from the actress’ multiple look tests as Poonguzhali — dressed in cotton sarees, antique silver jewellery and fresh flowers; while holding a knife in a few stills and a boat row in the others.
The second instalment of the blockbuster Ponniyin Selvan is slated to hit the screens on April 28. The two-part film series is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s five-part novel of the same name. Helmed by Mani Ratnam, Ponniyin Selvan has music by AR Rahman, cinematography by Ravi Varman and editing by Sreekar Prasad.
