Ahead of its release, the Ponniyin Selvan cast and crew have kickstarted their promotions. After the launch of AR Rahman’s “PS Anthem”, actors Karthi, Trisha, Vikram, Jayam Ravi and Aishwarya Lekshmi promoted the film in Coimbatore recently. During the event, Karthi effusively praised writer Jeyamohan for his dialogues in the epic.
Karthi, who plays Vallavarayan Vanthiyathevan in the film, revealed two of his favourite dialogues that were deleted from the first part. “In one scene, an old man stops Vanthiyathevan, who is going somewhere, and asks him where he is going. Vanthiyethvan replies that he is going to sort out a property issue. When the old man questions further, he says, “The issue is whether the property belongs to the elder brother’s son or the younger brother’s grandson. And I am going to give a judgement.” This dialogue is the story of Ponniyin Selvan. Jeyamohan sir summed up the entire plot in just one line,” the actor said.
The elder brother’s son is Madhuraanthakan (Rahman) and the younger brother’s grandson is Aditya Karikalan (Vikram). And who gets to become the next ruler is the crux of the magnum opus. He further teased the fans saying, “Did you understand the story? Later, don’t tell me that you didn’t understand.”
Karthi also quoted another interesting dialogue where he explains the difference between Kundavai and Nandini. “In another scene, after meeting Kundavai, Vandhiyathevan says she is very smart. Even if someone is destined to go to hell, she will somehow send them to heaven. On the other hand, Nandini is smarter. She will make people believe that hell is heaven and send them off happily.” He said that since such iconic dialogues were dropped from the film, he wanted to tell these to fans during the event.
