Actor Sivakarthikeyan was the chief guest at the audio launch of AR Murugadoss’s upcoming production venture August 16, 1947. At the launch, Sivakarthikeyan effusively praised the director, stating that Murugadoss is one of the few people who wanted to take those alongside him to greater heights. “Success will define our character, but our destiny is defined by our character. You are the living definition of that statement, which is visible when each of your assistants speaks,” Sivakarthikeyan told Murugadoss. The actor recounted instances when Murugadoss would give him suggestions to listen to the stories of his assistants and undertake projects with them right from the beginning of his career.
Reflecting upon his journey from an anchor to a superstar, the actor said the launch reminded him of his own career trajectory, and the special connection he shared with the director. He reminisced, “The audio launch of 7aam Arivu was hosted by actor Jai and it was telecast on another channel. I wasn’t the host since I was with Vijay TV at the time, but I had written the script for the audio launch. Later, when Murugadoss entered film production, his first film was Engaeyum Eppothum, and I was the anchor for its audio launch on the same stage. After that, I acted as a hero in Maan Karate, which was bankrolled by him. Now, I have come here as a guest.” Sivakarthikeyan also hinted that an important announcement will be made soon. “And after this, there is an important step I need to take, which will happen soon”, concluded the actor.
Directed by debutante NS Ponkumar, August 16, 1947 is a period drama that narrates the events that happen in a village, a day after India becomes independent. Starring Gautham Karthik, Pugazh and Revathy Sharma in lead roles, the film is slated to hit the screens on April 7.
