Producer Anil Sunkara of AK Entertainments spoke out about the failure of his latest production venture, the big-budget Telugu action film, Agent. The producer took to Twitter on Monday to admit the missteps of the team which resulted in the critical and commercial failure of the Surender Reddy directorial, starring Akhil Akkineni in the lead role.
"We have to take the entire blame for Agent," Anil arrived straight to the point in the tweet which went viral in no time. "Though we know it's an uphill task, we thought of conquering but failed to do so as we did a blunder starting the project without a bound script and innumerable issues, including COVID, followed. We don't want to give any excuses but learn from this costly mistake and see how we can turn around to make sure, we will never repeat the mistakes."
Speaking about the financial consequences faced by stakeholders due to the film's severe underperformance, Anil added, "Our sincere apologies to all those who put their trust in us. We will make up for the losses with dedicated planning and hard work in our future projects."
Agent, co-starring Mammootty, Dino Moreo and Sakshi Vaidya, follows the adventures of a youngster from Hyderabad who aspires to become a spy. The film's story is by Surender's frequent collaborator, writer-director Vakkantham Vamsi.
Anil's previous productions include Sarileru Neekevvaru (2020), Mahasamudram (2021), Sita (2019), Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema Gaadha (2016) and Hyper (2016), to name some. He has Chiranjeevi's Bholaa Shankar, the official remake of Ajith Kumar-starrer Vedhalam (2015), coming up. Directed by Meher Ramesh, the film is set to hit the marquee on August 11.
