Movie Details of Julie

Music: Rajesh Roshan

Lyrics: Anand Bakshi

Label: Universal Music India

Director: K S Sethumadhavan

Veteran director K S Sethumadhavan won a lot of accolades for this works that spanned over three decades, predominantly in Malayalam. If one were to consider impact outside the state though, his most successful work was probably the 1974 movie Chattakkaari, that got remade in four other languages (and completing a full circle, again in Malayalam in 2012).

First of those remakes was the 1975 Julie that, apart from being the leading lady Lakshmi's Bollywood debut, also launched the career of Rajesh Roshan into stardom. The young composer created a bunch of really memorable tunes for the soundtrack, even outdoing the Malayalam counterpart.

My only grouse with the music of Julie is the fact that the makers did not retain the English tune written, composed and sung by Usha Uthup in Chattakkaari, which I have found to be a better song than My Heart Is Beating which took its place.

Best Song Of JulieDil Kya Kare, written by Anand Bakshi and sung by Kishore Kumar (and quite recently subjected to a forgettable remix)
