Cinematographer-director Avinash Arun, who helmed the award-winning Marathi film Killa (2014), has confirmed that he is in talks with Aamir Khan for the Ujjwal Nikam biopic. Arun told Bollywood Hungama, “Yes, we are in talks.” He revealed that Khan has not yet decided if he will also play Nikam's role in the biopic or only produce the film. Arun reportedly told the portal that he would only direct the film if Khan agreed to play Nikam's role. As per earlier reports, Khan will be co-producing the biopic with Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films.
Nikam is a special public prosecutor who has worked on important cases like the 1993 Bombay bomb blasts, the Gulshan Kumar murder case, the Pramod Mahajan murder case, and the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.
Khan was last seen in Laal Singh Chaddha (2022), which was an official remake of the Hollywood film Forrest Gump (1994). The film was directed by Advait Chandan and also starred Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mona Singh, Naga Chaitanya and Manav Vij in pivotal roles.
