Aamir Khan has been on a self-imposed sabbatical from acting after the box office failure of Laal Singh Chadha (2022). The actor mentioned at a recent event that he was focusing on his production house and working on greenlighting multiple projects as a producer.
As per a report in Pinkvilla, Khan is reportedly collaborating with Rajkumar Santoshi on two films. One is a movie starring Sunny Deol that he will co-produce, and another that will star Khan as the leading man.
Khan and Santoshi are reportedly discussing titles for the action-packed drama featuring Deol, which will reportedly revolve around a vigilante taking a stand against society. A source told the portal, “Sunny and Rajkumar Santoshi have been discussing a probable collaboration for a while now, and with Aamir Khan on board as a producer, the film is on track to go on floors. Aamir is a creative force to reckon with and he has loved what Rajkumar Santoshi developed for Sunny Deol. The trio is looking to take the film on floors around December/January 2024." An official announcement is expected on October 19 which is Deol’s 66th birthday.
The source added, “Aamir, Santoshi, and Sunny had a long meeting and have come on the same page about finances and shooting timelines. The 3-month marathon shooting is expected to begin in January. On calling it a wrap on the Sunny Deol film, Rajkumar Santoshi will begin his work on his next which has Aamir Khan in lead role.”
Khan will reportedly be making his acting comeback with the RS Prassana directorial Champions. Speaking about the film, the source revealed, “Champions is presently in the casting stage and is ready to hit the floors on January 20. The prep work is also in progress.” Champions is the remake of the Spanish film Campeones (2018). The film is expected to go on floors in January 2024 and will hit the big screen during the Christmas 2024 weekend. Khan is also associated with the Ujjwal Nikam biopic, that will be reportedly be directed by Avinash Arun.
