After its theatrical run, Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher starrer Ghoomer will finally be available for the streaming audience. The R.Balki directorial will be released on Zee5 on November 10.
Ghoomer is a story of a cricketer Anina (played by Kher) who loses her right hand in an accident. An unsympathetic, failed cricketer gives her new hope, trains her with unconventional techniques, to turn her fate around.
Talking about Kher’s experience working with Bachchan in the film, she said, “ I've known Abhishek Bachchan for four years now, and we previously worked together on a show called Breathe. AB is my favourite co-star, and I've learned so much from him. Apart from being incredibly funny and always lightening the mood, I find AB to be one of the wisest, most sensible, and secure human beings I've ever met. He's done a brilliant job in Ghoomer. Some of my fondest memories with him on set are when we would sit around, and he would share funny stories and impart so much wisdom from his illustrious career.”
The actress also spoke about the challenges she faced while playing her character, “Ghoomer has been the most emotionally draining film I have ever worked on. From the moment Anina loses her arm, it's like a tsunami of emotions. The first impactful moment is when she realizes she has lost her arm in the hospital and looks at her grandmom. Then there's the scene with Jeet, who visits her on her birthday. She loses her cool on him, and that's when Paddy enters the picture. Another demanding but deeply satisfying scene was when, after hitting the winning shot, I experienced a breakdown. It was a release of all the emotions I had held within me for all these years.”
Ghoomer released in theatres on August 12. The film also starred Angad Bedi and Shabana Azmi in key roles.
