Renowned Indian Cinematographer Santosh Sivan was this year’s recipient of the annual Pierre Angénieux ExcelLens in Cinematography award, at Cannes Film Festival 2024. He was the first Asian recipient of the Angénieux award. While talking to Anupama Chopra at Cannes, Sivan spoke about how he loves working with film directors like Rajkumar Santoshi and actor turned director Riteish Deshmukh.
“I love doing Rajkumar Santoshi’s film Lahore because he is an old friend not seen for longtime so when someone like that asks me make a film, I don’t think of anything more than that”, Sivan said. He further added, “I’m fascinated with films like Shivaji (Raja Shivaji) which I really want to shoot and I think Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia are wonderful people and Genelia I made a film with her so they are very interesting and nice people, very committed people so I have been discussing with them and that kind of film and we interact a lot.”
Sivan’s next project as a cinematographer includes Lahore: 1947 starring Aamir Khan, Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta. He also has Raja Shivaji, starring Deshmukh who has acts as the writer and director for the project.
