Dune 3 Release: Script is Almost Finished says, Director Denis Villeneuve

According to a report in Variety, the script of Dune 3 is almost finished. Dune 2 which released in theatres on March 1 is directed by filmmaker Denis Villeneuve who had informed in a press conference last year that he shall be making a third installement based on Frank Herbert’s follow-up novel “Dune Messiah.” Last year, Villeneuve told Empire magazine, “If I succeed in making a trilogy, that would be the dream. I will say, there are words on paper [for a third film].”

Speaking to the South Korean press, Villeneuve said, “Dune Messiah” is “being written right now. The screenplay is almost finished but it is not finished. It will take a little time…There’s a dream of making a third movie…it would make absolute sense to me.”

Warner Bros. (the studio behind the Dune franchise) has yet to officially greenlight Dune 3, but one can assume it is coming.
