Vijay Sethupathi’s Maharaja gets a release date (Tamil)

Vijay Sethupathi’s 50th film Maharaja is all set to hit the cinemas. The makers of the drama revealed that the film will be released in theatres on June 14. They have also ramped up the promotional activities with multiple singles and a trailer, which sees him play the role of a shop owner in search of a ‘Lakshmi’.

Maharaja is written and directed by Nithilan Saminathan and is backed by Sudhan Sundaram and Jagadish Palanisamy under the Passion Studios and The Route banners respectively. It also stars Anurag Kashyap, Mamta Mohandas, Munishkanth, and more. B Ajaneesh Loknath handles the music while Dinesh Purushothaman cranks the camera.

Vijay’s Thuppakki and Pokkiri get a re-release (Tamil)

Ahead of his 50th birthday on June 22, two of Thalapathy Vijay’s films will be re-released in cinemas. After the success of Ghilli, the makers of the action entertainer Thuppakki and the gangster flick Pokkiri will be re-released on June 21. While the former saw him collaborate with AR Muragadoss for the first time and saw him play an army man on holiday, the latter saw him play a rowdy who takes down the mafia. Both films were blockbusters upon release.

Pawan Kalyan’s OG gets a new poster (Telugu)

Pawan Kalyan will be next seen in the action entertainer OG. The makers of the epic film released a new poster earlier this week. The poster sees Kalyan exuding swagger as he sits on a rocking chair with a watch in his palms. The chair seems to be on fire.

OG is written and directed by Sujeeth of Saaho fame and is backed by DVV Danayya under the DVV Entertainments banner. The film also stars Emran Hashmi in his Telugu debut. Thaman SS scores the music while Ravi K Chandran is the cinematographer. The film is set to be released on September 27.

Dhananjaya’s Kotee gets a trailer (Kannada)

Actor Dhananjaya will be next seen in the action film Kotee, which releases on June 14. The film's makers recently released the official trailer which sees the actor play Kotee, cab-cum-packers and movers driver. He is tasked with a hit job from Savkar, played by Ramesh Indira. When Kotee refuses the job from the prominent rowdy, all hell breaks loose.

Kotee is written and directed by Param in his directorial debut. The film is backed by Jyoti Deshpande under the Vaishno Studios banner. The film is produced in association with Jio Studios. It also stars Tara and Rangayana Raghu in prominent roles. Vasuki Vaibhav handles the music and Nobin Paul composes the score. Arun Brahma handles the camera.

Rakshit Shetty’s Paramvah Studios has a new update for Ekam (Kannada)

On the occasion of Rakshit Shetty’s birthday on June 6, the makers of Ekam revealed that a new update from the much-awaited web series will be announced on June 17. The one-of-a-kind web series which is set to be released in multiple languages has been in the making for a few years. It stars Raj B Shetty, Shine Shetty, Prakash Raj, and more. Ekam is created by Sandeep PS and Sumanth Bhat and is backed by Journeyman Films. It is also presented by Paramvah Studios.

Shane Nigam’s Madraskaaran wraps filming (Malayalam)

Actor Shane Nigam will be making his Tamil cinema debut with Madraskaaran. Earlier, the makers had released a quirky promo announcing the actor’s inclusion in the film. Now, the team has announced that filming for the entertainer has been wrapped. The announcement was accompanied by a BTS video of the last day of the shoot.

Madraskaaran is written and directed by Vaali and is backed by B Jagadish under the SR Productions banner. Sam CS handles the music while Prasanna S cranks the camera.

Rishab Shetty releases the trailer of Shivamma Yarehanchinala (Kannada)

Jaishankar Aryar’s Shivamma Yarehanchinala has travelled all around the world during its film festival run, including winning the New Currents Award at the Busan International Film Festival. The film is all set to be released on June 14 and the makers released the film's official trailer. It follows the story of Shivamma who starts a pyramid scheme in her village to raise money.

Shivamma Yarehanchinala is written and directed by Jaishankar Aryar, who helmed the Kathasangama segment: Lachchavva. The film is backed by Rishab Shetty under the Rishab Shetty Films banner and stars Sharanamma Chatti in the lead role. Vikas Urs and Saumyananda Sahi handle the camera.

Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD will get a trailer on this date (Telugu)

The Prabhas starrer Kalki 2898 AD is all set to be released on June 27. The sci-fi epic has been one of the most anticipated films of the year and has been in the making for the past few years. The makers have announced that the trailer for the film will be released on June 10. Accompanying the announcement, many new character posters were also released.

Kalki 2898 AD is written and directed by Nag Ashwin and is backed by Aswani Dutt under the Vyjayanthi Films banner. Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Disha Patani, Pasupathy, and more also feature in the film. Santhosh Narayanan handles the music while Djordje Stojiljkovic handles the camera.

Bhavana Menon joins the cast of Uttarakaanda (Kannada)

The cast of Dhananjaya’s next Uttarakaanda seems to be growing bigger by the day. The recent addition to the crime action film is Bhavana Menon. The Malayalam actress has starred in many Kannada films and was last seen in this year’s Case of Kondana. She will also be reuniting with Shivarajkumar, who she has worked with on films such as Tagaru and Bhajarangi 2.

Uttarakaanda is written and directed by Rohit Padakki and is backed by Karthik Gowda and Yogi G Raj under the KRG Studios banner. The film stars Dhananjaya, Shivarajkumar, Diganth, Aishwarya Rajesh, Yograj Bhat, Chaithra J Achar, Umashree, and Rangayana Raghu. Amit Trivedi handles the music while Advaitha Gurumoorthy handles the cinematography.

Siddharth’s next gets a title (Tamil)

Actor Siddharth, who was last seen in the hard-hitting Chittha recently announced his next. Titled Miss You, the film was announced by R Madhavan and Lokesh Kanagaraj through their respective social media handles, with the first look poster. The poster sees the actor walking with a bag over his shoulders while a train passes by.

Miss You is written and directed by N Rajasekar and is backed by the 7 Miles Per Second banner. Ashika Ranganath, Naren, JP, and Anupama also feature in the film. Ghibran handles the music while KG Venkatesh handles the cinematography. Siddharth will be next seen in Indian 2, which releases this month.
