Nani’s Saripodha Sanivaram begins shooting (Telugu)

Nani, who is currently awaiting the release of his 30th film Hi Nanna, has also begun filming for his next, Saripodha Sanivaram. The film sees him reunite with Ante Sundaraniki (2022) director Vivek Athreya. The film, which was officially announced last month, created a buzz with its 'Unchained' video, showcasing Nani in an interesting action sequence. The makers took to social media to now announce the filming of the project began with a "gripping action sequence" in Hyderabad. Noted stunt directors Ram-Lakshman have reportedly choreographed the sequence.

Saripodha Sanivaram also stars Priyanka Mohan and SJ Suryah in lead roles. The film is produced by DVV Danayya and Kalyan Kesarai under the DVV Entertainments banner. The film has music by Jakes Bejoy and cinematography by Murali G.

Niharika Konidela launches the first feature film under her production banner (Telugu)

Actress and producer Niharika Konidela, who owns the production house Pink Elephant Pictures, recently announced that she would be producing her first feature film under the banner. The untitled film is tentatively called Production No.1 and is a co-production between Konidela’s banner and Shree Radha Damodar Studios.

The film was launched recently with a formal puja ceremony which saw Varun Tej, Naga Babu and Venky Kudumla. It is directed by debutant Yadu Vamsi and stars an ensemble cast of Sandeep Saroj, Yashwanth Pendyala, Sharanya Suresh, Prasad Behara, and more. Anudeep Dev will compose the music while Raju Edurolu will handle the cinematography. Mammootty is rumoured to play a closeted homosexual in the film.

The trailer of Kaathal The Core, starring Mammootty and Jyotika in the lead roles, was unveiled recently. Although the trailer reveals one of the story's central conflicts, it raises curiosity about the interpersonal dynamics between the main characters.

Kaathal - The Core is directed by Jeo Baby and based on a script by Adarsh Sukumaran and Paulson Skaria. The director reunites with his team, which sees Mathews Pulickan and Salu K Thomas handle the music and cinematography, respectively. Mammootty produces the film under his Mammootty Kampany banner. The film is set to be released on November 23.

First look of Malavika from Sharma’s Harom Hara out (Telugu)

Sudheer Babu is all set to star in the commercial entertainer Harom Hara. The makers of the film recently unveiled the first look poster of Malavika Sharma, who is the female lead in the film. Sharma plays the role of Devi and is said to be the love interest of Babu’s character. Her intro comes a week after noted actor Sunil was cast in the film as the villain Palani Swamy.

Harom Hara is said to be a period thriller set in 1989 and is directed by Gnansagar Dwarakal. It is backed by Sumanth G Naidu and has music by Chaithan Bharadwaj. Aravind Viswanathan is the cinematographer.

Vennela Kishore’s Chaari 111 gets first look (Telugu)

Noted comedic actor Vennela Kishore is all set to star in the spy-comedy Chaari 111. The makers of the film recently released the first look poster which shows Kishore in a James Bond-esque suit pointing a gun while there are explosions in the background. The film also stars Samyuktha Vishwanathan, who is seen in the poster, and Murali Sharma as the antagonist.

Chaari 111 is written and directed by TG Keerthi Kumar and produced by Aditi Soni under the Barkat Studios banner. The film has music by Simon King and cinematography by Kashish Grover.

Roshan Mathew and Shine Tom Chacko’s Maharani gets a trailer (Malayalam)

Roshan Mathew joins hands with Shine Tom Chacko in the comedy Maharani. The makers of the film recently released the trailer, promising a wacky, slapstick comedy. The film also stars Johnny Antony, Nisha Sarang, Balu Varghese, Jaffer Idukki and others. It is directed by G Marthandan based on a script by Ratheesh Ravi.

S Lokanathan has handled the cinematography while Govind Vasantha has composed the music. Gopi Sundar has provided the background score while Anvar Ali and Rajeev Alunkal have penned the lyrics. The film is backed by Sujith Balan under the SB Films banner, along with co-producer NM Badusha.

Arya makes OTT debut with Amazon Prime web series The Village (Tamil)

Arya is all set to make his web series debut with the mystical thriller The Village. The makers of the Amazon Prime Video original recently released the trailer which shows Arya trying to find his missing family, assumed to be abducted by nefarious beings in a cursed village. The series also stars Divya Pillai, Aazhiya, Aadukalam Naren, George Maryan and John Kokken.

Based on a graphic novel of the same name, The Village is directed by Milind Rau and is backed by BS Radhakrishnan under the Studio Shakthi Productions banner. The series is all set to premiere on Amazon Prime on November 24.

Vijay Sethupathi’s Merry Christmas postponed, gets new release date (Tamil)

Vijay Sethupathi and Katrina Kaif’s Hindi-Tamil bilingual film Merry Christmas was initially slated to hit the screens on December 8, 2023. However, the makers recently announced that the thriller would be released on January 12, 2024. The film is directed by Sriram Raghavan of Andhadhun (2018) fame and will see him return to the director’s chair after six years.

Merry Christmas is directed by Sriram Raghavan who co-wrote the script along with a team of writers. The film is produced by Ramesh Tourani and Jaya Tourani under the Tips Films banner in association with Matchbox Films. The film also stars Radhika Apte, Tinnu Anand, Sanjay Kapoor and Vinay Pathak.

Kamal Haasan’s Aalavandhan to be re-released in theatres (Tamil)

Kamal Haasan’s 2001 thriller Aalavandhan is slated to re-release in cinemas. The makers have announced that the cult classic will be released on December 8. The film was known for its dark subject matter, exploration of psychological aspects and use of animated sequences. The sequence was cited as an inspiration by Quentin Tarantino for his anime-style sequence in Kill Bill: Vol. 1.

Aalavandhan was directed by Suresh Krishna and written by Kamal Haasan, based on his novel Dhayam. The film starred Haasan in dual roles, along with Raveena Tandon, Manisha Koirala, and Sarath Babu. It is being re-released by producer Kalaipuli S Thanu under the V Creations banner.

Suriya’s Kanguva team releases a new poster for Diwali (Tamil)

Actor Suriya has a long lineup of films on his slate and one of the most anticipated is his socio-fantasy film with the director Siva. Titled Kanguva, the makers of the film recently released a new poster featuring Suriya in a periodic, tribal warrior avatar, standing amidst an army who are blowing victory conches. The frame is lit up by fire and fireworks as the makers released it on the occasion of Diwali.

The period action film is directed by Siva of Annaatthe (2021) and Vedalam (2015) fame. It is backed by KE Gnanavel Raja, V Vamsi Krishna Reddy, and Pramod Uppalapti under the Studio Green and UV Creations banners. The film has music by Devi Sri Prasad and cinematography by Vetru Palanisamy. The film is set to be released in 3D in multiple languages.

Actress Sharmiela Mandre turns Creative Producer (Kannada)

Sharmiela Mandre is known for starring in films like Sajni and Krishna and was last seen in the comedy Gaalipata 2 (2022). The actress is all set to embark on a new journey as a creative producer with the Tamil film Sila Nodigalil. The film is written and directed by Vinay Bharadwaj who is known for directing the coming-of-age drama Mundina Nildana. Bharadwaj also makes his debut in the Tamil industry with the film.

Sila Nodigalil is backed by Punnagai Poo Geetha and is produced by MediaOne Global Entertainment and Esquire Productions. It has cinematography by Abhimanyu Sadanandan and music by Rohit Kulkarni. The film stars Richard Rishi, Punnagai Poo Geetha, and Yashika Anand. The film is all set to be released on November 24.

Trailer of Abhishek Ambareesh’s Bad Manners is out (Kannada)

Abhishek Ambareesh returns to the screen as a leading hero in Suri’s crime thriller Bad Manners. The film which was in production for a few years is finally gearing up for release on November 24. In anticipation of the release, the makers released the official trailer of the film, which shows Abhishek Ambareesh’s character as a no-holds-barred police officer. The trailer shows all the regular flourishes of director Suri and is underscored by Charan Raj’s peppy title track.

Bad Manners is directed by Suri, who has co-written the script along with Maasthi, Amri, and Surendranath. The film is backed by Sudhir KM and also stars Sharath Lohitashwa, Kuri Prathap, Poornachandra Mysore, and Rachita Ram. Charan Raj has scored the music while S Shekar has handled the cinematography.
