Haddi director Akshat Ajay Sharma has revealed that Nawazuddin Siddiqui and other members of the cast were mistaken for real transgender people by passers-by, during the film's shoot in Delhi.
Sharma said, "While we set out to create a thought-provoking film that challenges stereotypes and promotes inclusivity, we never anticipated such a fascinating turn of events. When we were shooting for the film in Delhi, we encountered an interesting moment where one of our actors, dressed in the opposite gender’s attire, was mistaken as a transgender person by the people of Delhi. This incident underscores the film's impact and the pressing need for society to be more accepting and understanding of diverse gender identities. Haddi has inadvertently become a catalyst for these important discussions."
Sharma also highlighted about the invaluable presence of real transgender individuals on the set, who brought a unique aura that enriched the filmmaking experience.
Haddi stars Siddiqui, Anurag Kashyap, Ila Arun and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub in key roles. The film is directed by Sharma and co-produced by Zee Studios and Anandita Studios. Haddi is available to stream on Zee5.
