There was a big development in Suhas’ personal life on January 21. He and his wife welcomed their first child into the world. On January 22nd, he was seated to promote his next film as a lead, Ambajipeta Marriage Band. Wearing glasses to cover his sleepless eyes, the actor arrived at the interview spot in the afternoon. “Even during lunch, I went to the hospital,” he says. This naturally prompts a question about his work-life balance. “Well, I dreamt of leading such a busy life. I don’t have complaints because I’m finally living it. My family will also be comfortable only if I work. The interviews were already planned so I just took a day off from promotions and was at the hospital the whole night,” shares a reticent Suhas.

The actor broke out into the scene around 2016 through a series of viral YouTube sketches, which made him popular among youngsters. While it created opportunities for him to play supporting roles in films like Padi Padi Leche Manasu (2018), Majili (2019), Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya (2019), and Dear Comrade (2019), his big movie role came in the form of the 2020 streaming release Colour Photo.

“When I started out, as I attended auditions, I felt small roles were enough. When Anurag [Reddy] anna and Sharath [Chandra] anna (the founders of Chai Bisket Films) encouraged me saying I was ‘hero material’, I looked at them in disbelief. I didn’t believe them even 1% and wondered how and when that would happen. They injected this thought into my brain and pushed me only to do good roles. And when I’d visit colleges for events or meet students, the response would be mind-boggling. That’s when I finally took the decision that I’d do only strong characters.”

Suhas admitted a few years ago that he overthinks and stresses about everything, including career and earning money. Now that he has certainly reached a comfortable and secure position, 8 years later, does he feel less stress? “Now I stress about saving money,” he laughs. On a serious note, his concerns now veer towards sustaining this secure position and growing further. "And speaking of stress, I’m not at all worried about Ambajipeta Marriage Band. I’m 1000% confident that it will take me to a new place. Likewise, I am confident that my upcoming films will take me to new places as well.” On a personal note, Suhas adds, “My wife has seen the film and among my films, she said this is her favourite one so far.”

As an actor, he affirms he chooses preparation over spontaneity any day. “I rehearsed around 50 times for some scenes in the film. I can’t tell which scenes but there are a couple of scenes in the film where I felt like I have never done something as strong. In fact, after Ambajipeta Marriage Band, I have consciously decided that I should never get mentally affected by a role to this extent. I was totally normal when I did Colour Photo, even though it was an intense film, but for Ambajipeta Marriage Band, I couldn’t help but get affected. So I’ll leave the film to your imagination.”
