Kalyani Priyadarshan is quickly climbing up the ranks to cement a place among one of Malayalam cinema’s most sought-after talents. The actress was recently seen in the coming-of-age sports drama Sesham Mike-il Fathima which follows the trials and tribulations of an ordinary Muslim girl from a village in Malabar, who aspires to be a football commentator. Directed by debutant Manu C Kumar, the film also features Maala Parvathy, Shaheen Siddique and Femina George. After its theatrical run, the will be available to stream on Netflix on December 15.
The streaming alert poster features the caption, “NINGAL IDHU KAANUKA!! Mike-il ippo Fathima vannu etheetundu”, which is a funny callback to the funny line from a football commentary session that went viral on social media which literally translates to " Look at this, you need to look at this". Santhana Krishnan Ravichandran cranked the camera, while Kiran Das edited the film. Sesham Mike-il Fathima has a musical score by Hesham Abdul Wahab. The film tries to fight against conventional gender norms and barriers that are attached to women entering sports.
