During a chat with Film Companion, Never Have I Ever’s Maitreyi Ramakrishnan had an epiphany when she realised that there’s a generation of viewers who will see her as a role model, much like Ramakrishna had seen Emma Watson’s Hermione in the Harry Potter movies.
“That just hit me now. Wow, I mean like, wow!” she said, while talking to Anupama Chopra. “I think of young girls who were my age and when I saw Emma Watson as Hermione, seeing me as their Emma Watson in Devi. Wow, that I think is really awesome and I can't even fathom. That's like a whole, you know, big wild legacy of our show because when you are in it, it’s hard to see like an impact every day. I'm so amazed about how many fans we have, what kind of fans we have,” said Ramakrishna. “I really do hope that those people who look up to me as their first representation, I hope there's others that they can also look up to as well.”
