The fourth edition of the Screenwriters Association Awards was held at Taj Lands End, Mumbai on August 6th, to celebrate the exceptional creative prowess of screenwriters, storytellers, and dialogue writers from across the Hindi entertainment industry. The event was attended by stalwarts of the industry, including Govind Nihalani, Ramesh Taurani, Imitiyaz Husain, JD Majethia and Anjum Rajabali.

Speaking to Film Companion, Preeti Mamgain, President of the SWA, said, “We at the SWA came together with the mindset that hum kisise bheekh maangne nahi aaye hain (we’re not here to beg people for recognition). We are good writers and we need to value ourselves. Nobody is going to value us if we don’t value ourselves.” The jury at the SWA Awards is composed entirely of professional writers who are currently working in the industry. “It’s writers judging the work of fellow writers. What could be better than your own fraternity validating your work?” she said.
