Ranveer Singh who plays Rocky in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, has said that the movie is a quintessential Karan Johar film and emphasised that it will have all the elements people associate with Johar’s brand of cinema.
Speaking at a press conference in Delhi to promote the film and unveil the song Ve Kamleya, Singh said, “Karan is bringing back that kind of cinema that we have grown up on…I am sure that (for) a lot of you Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001), are timeless classics that he created and which are such an integral part of our growing up years. Toh woh jo saare gun hai na, woh sab iss film me hai (All the qualities of those films are in this film). I really think that yeh ek aisi film hai jo logon ko khush kar dene wali hai (this is a film that will make everyone happy). When you walk out of the theatres, you will have a smile on your face.”
Singh also revealed that Johar believed this to be his ‘most humorous film’ and added that the young energetic crew and Johar’s own entertaining personality made working on this movie a joyful experience.
Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani marks Johar’s return to direction seven years after Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016). The film is written by Ishita Moitra, Shashank Khaitan and Sumit Roy and co-produced by Dharma Productions and Viacom18 Studios.
