Urvashi’s Kannamma, aka Appatha, runs a pickle manufacturing business in the village of Kaayilanpatti, while her only son is settled in the city. When his son requests her to stay in the city for a few days, she happily agrees. But it turns out that her son and his family are going on a vacation, and want Kannamma to take care of their dog. The feel-good drama then follows the adventures of Kannamma who is scared of dogs.
Directed by Priyadarshan, Appatha is Urvashi’s 700th film. This also marks her reunion with the filmmaker after the 1993 Malayalam film Midhunam. Appatha is slated to be directly released on Jio cinema on July 29. The trailer and poster were shared on Jio Cinema’s Twitter handle. The caption read, “The bond of love comes in different forms! Watch Appatha teach and learn in this tale of love, bonds and respect.”
