OMG 2 was released in theatres on August 11 after receiving an A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film also faced several controversies about its storyline and clashed directly with mass entertainer Gadar 2 at the box office. However, the film has managed to perform fairly well and is slowly inching towards the 100-crore mark at the box office.
Yami Gautam, who is one of the principal cast members of the film, has commented on the film’s clash with Gadar 2 at the box office and shared her feelings about the positive response the film has received. Admitting that she has finally heaved a sigh of relief, Gautam shared, “I was very confident about the film, I watched it for the first time with my mother, a day before the Censor Board saw it. I was like this film is definitely going to work, I will be very surprised if it doesn’t, the tone of the film was not to sensationalize or titillate the audience. What happened later was beyond our control. I am sure it was not easy from a producer and director’s point of view. Years go into making a film. They (CBFC) are also doing their job, but to explain yourself sometimes can be very hard.”
Gautam added, that while there are many stories circulating about the film’s storyline, she hopes that audiences would watch the film before forming any opinions. The actor said, “I understand the curiosity, but people had made notions basis that. I requested everyone that while curiosity is natural, first please watch the film. Going by the majority sentiment now, people have respected the intentions with which the film was made.”
OMG 2 is written and directed by Amit Rai. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi and Gautam in the principal roles.
