He has only one performance in consideration for this period, but Roshan in Vikram Vedha embodied his post-War renaissance as both actor and star. His depiction of Vedha was an uncanny mix of campy and crazed, pushing our perception of the big-ticket movie villain in newer directions. After an anonymous decade, there’s something weirdly romantic about watching Roshan’s on-screen flamboyance now: He seems to have found the right time and outlet for his zaddy-era physicality. Two decades after taking the nation by storm, he is back to where it all began. And nobody is complaining.
