One is tempted to call it a rebirth, but Siddharth Anand’s ascent to the summit of Hindi action cinema is no fluke. Glimpses of his ‘feel’ for the genre emerged in Bang Bang. His reading of the moment – Hrithik Roshan’s zaddy era return and Shah Rukh Khan’s overall comeback – infused his big-scale vision with the sort of meta reel-weds-real wink that altered the language of Bollywood commercial blockbusters. YRF Spy Universe aside, Anand’s legacy is widening.
