Many a time, trailers end up misleading the audience. Hope that doesn't happen in the case of Middle Class Melodies, as the trailer looks top-class. The Telugu comedy drama, which is set to drop on Amazon Prime Video on November 20, is headlined by Anand Deverakonda and Varsha Bollamma. Though these actors are not unfamiliar, they are still novices in the Telugu film industry.
Raghava (Anand Deverakonda), who is a pro at making Bombay chutney, is keen on setting up a hotel to prove his worth to his father. Is Anand starring in another version of the character that his brother Vijay Deverakonda played in Pelli Choopulu? It's great to see the brothers don the chef's hat in their respective ventures, and whip up tasty dishes. If Pelli Choopulu was set in the city of Hyderabad, this one opens in a small town.
We've seen several filmmakers squeeze out humour in scenes featuring father-son clashes, but this one, directed by Vinod Anantoju, gets it right. With music by Sweekar Agasthi (C/o Kancharapalem's composer), the album will probably stand the test of time. And, we have to just wait and watch if the trailer's buzz will translate into a breezy feature next week.
