'Love, War and everything in between': This is How Dulquer Salmaan described his upcoming big release Sita Ramam, on social media. And the film's trailer, which was launched today, lives up to his statement. At the center of the film is a period romance set in the 60s, between Sita Mahalakshmi (Mrunal Thakur) and Lieutenant Ram (Dulquer Salmaan).

In the present day, when Afreen (Rashmika Mandanna) and her friend (Tharun Bhascker) are asked to find Sita Mahalakshmi within 10 days and hand over a 20-year-old letter written by Ram, they go on an adventure into the past. They begin this trail by learning about Ram's backstory.

The trailer then introduces us to Ram and Sita's love story set in 1965. Ram is an orphan, and he falls in love with Sita. They write letters to each other to sustain the distance between them. Ram reports to Kashmir for duty and later writes the mysterious letter of contention to Sita, which does not reach her.

There are many unknown dangers in finding Sita and Tharun suggests Afreen drop this mission. But the latter seems to be engrossed in the mission for personal reasons. The trailer cuts back and forth, giving us glimpses of Ram and Sita's love story, and Afreen's journey in the present. Why did the letter not reach Sita? Why is Afreen searching for Sita after 20 years? What happened to Ram and Sita? The answers to these questions form the rest of the plot.
