Godzilla is angry and the people don't know why. As he rampages through cities and appears unharmed even after direct missile strikes, there's only one thing left to do — bring in King Kong to fight him. Kong gets bit of character development himself, having formed a bond with the orphan Jia, the only person who can communicate with him.
Soon, the characters realize that Godzilla's angst may be the result of larger forces at play. There are hints of an ancient rivalry between the monsters and the dialogue, "Kong bows to no one" delivered with a straight face.
Godzilla vs Kong is the culmination of a shared film universe comprising Godzilla (2014), Kong: Skull Island (2017) and Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019). Directed by Adam Wingard, it stars Alexander Skarsgård, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Eiza González and Kyle Chandler. It releases in theatres and on HBO Max on March 26.
