After gaining unanimous praise as a deaf and mute bowler in one of his early films, Iqbal (2004), Shreyas Talpade returns to the sport – this time, as a real-life leg spinner in the biopic, Kaun Pravin Tambe.

The trailer begins with a clip of Rahul Dravid talking about one of his favourite cricketing stories that he loves to share. He goes on to say that the story is not about his contemporaries and fellow cricketing greats Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman or Sourav Ganguly, but one featuring bowler Pravin Tambe.

Tambe (Shreyas Talpade) aspires to become a cricketer since his early days, but objections from his family members, who want him to have a conventional job, and his growing responsibilities keep him away from pursuing the sport to his full potential. And yet, at the back of his struggle to find national success, he keeps trying, playing one trial after another, one match after the other, to finally make his debut in cricket at 41.

Directed by Jayprad Desai and written by Kiran Yadnyopavit, the film has been produced by Fox Star Studios, Friday Filmworks and Boot Room Sports Production. Also starring Ashish Vidyarthi, Parambrata Chatterjee and Anjali Patil, the biopic premieres on Disney+ Hotstar on April 1.
