The striking new trailer of Mahesh Narayanan's (director of Take Off) C U Soon dropped earlier today and the experimental film is far edgier and intense than what one had assumed from its title. A thriller shot on iPhone during the lockdown period, the film takes off from the early days of a love story between the characters played by Darshana Rajendran (Mayanadhi, Virus) and Roshan Mathew (Moothon, Choked).

At first, the two-and-a-half minute trailer seems like the beginning of a relationship between the two with the prospect of them getting married (his mother asks Fahadh Faasil's character to get more information about the girl) when matters get more complicated. They realise that Darshana's character Anu has no real phone number attached to her social media accounts.

Shot in India and Dubai, the film uses footage that gets recorded during video calls between characters, among whom are Saiju Kurup and Maala Parvathi. Instead of regular scene settings, shots in the film show the actors in the middle of their regular activities as they're doing things like driving, cooking, working or even sleeping.

First impressions suggest that Anu's relationship with Jimmy (Roshan's character) may have begun while she was being confined to a room without a chance to escape.

Mahesh Narayanan's film Malik, starring Fahadh Faasil, was scheduled to release in March. See U Soon, produced by Fahadh Faasil, will release directly on Amazon Prime on September 1, making it the first high profile made-during-the-lockdown release in Malayalam.
