The trailer of Theevandi fame Fellini TP's Ottu begins with a violent shootout, which unfolds amidst huge billboards of American westerns such as A Fistful Of Dollars and The Good Bad And The Ugly. We are then introduced to the life of ruthless gangster who goes by the moniker Dawood (played by Arvind Swamy), who temporarily loses his memory after a violent spree. This is where Kunchacko Boban's Kichu comes in. When Kichu is asked to shadow Dawood and betray him for a larger cause, by a bunch of influential people, the duo enters into an unlikely friendship. But as the trailer ever so reminds us, characters in the universe of Ottu can "trust no one".

The film, which also features Jackie Shroff and Eesha Rebba in significant roles, marks Swamy's return to Malayalam cinema after years. One of his last films in Malayalam was the 1996 title Devaraagam, directed by Bharathan. Ottu, which is billed an Onam release this year, has music by Arulraj Kennady. The movie has been written by S Sanjeev, and produced by Arya and Shaji Nadesan.
