Trailer Talk: What The New Trailer Tells Us About Anushka Sharma’s Pari

Does she play the victim or the ghost? Or both?

Team FC

The trailer of Pari gives us more of what we had learnt from the 3 teasers, without losing the mystery. It begins with a shot of Anushka Sharma listening to music in her earphones, and a creepy female voiceover: She has blossomed. A male voice asks: Is she ready?

Is Sharma's character the victim or the ghost? Or is she both? She refers to a man, and we see a menacing looking Rajat Kapoor fixing a blood clot in his eyes. The character played by Parambrata Chatterjee seems to be helping Sharma, against his parent's wishes. "Why do you need to get involved in this?" his mother tells him.

Directed by Prosit Roy who has co-written the film with Abhishek Banerjee, the trailer of Pari is reminiscent of Kahaani, in a good way — a mysterious strong female protagonist, Chatterjee playing her aide, and the less seen side of Kolkata(rainy, bleak).

Produced by Sharma's production house Clean Slate Films, Pari releases on 2 March.
