After notable characters in films like Nenjam Marappathillai and Kasada Tabara, Regina Cassandra plays as an archeologist in Soorpanagai. The film's trailer that released today shows her playing the roles of a geeky archeologist and a also dangerous-looking Chandramukhi-like character who comes from the past to extract vengeance.

The trailer lays out most of the "what" of Soorpanagai leaving us to only guess the "how". It opens with a voiceover that talks about a mysterious death that can't quite be explained by the evidence. An archeologist (Regina Cassandra) is roped in to help the police solve the case. A mystery becomes a horror as she learns that her past life is somehow involved in the deaths that she's investigating.

The trailer suggests that Soorpanagai is a whodunit where the gradual accumulation of evidence leads to creepy revelations from the past. In fact, a large part of the trailer is set in the past with characters that you see in the present day appearing in different avatars. It requires an archeologist to literally dig up the past and explain events that are happening in the present.

Soorpanagai is directed by Caarthik Raju (Thirudan Police, Ulkuthu) and is made both in Tamil and Telugu (Nene Naa). Music and lyrics are by Sam CS (Vikram Vedha, Kaithi), cinematography by PK Varma (Attakathi, Cuckoo) and editing by Sabu.

Regina Cassandra, Akshara Gowda, Michael Pradeep, Satish, Vennela Kishore, Mansoor Ali Khan and Jayaprakash are part of the cast. Produced by Raj Shekar Varma and presented by Apple Tree Studios, Soorpanagai is set to release soon.
