Ajith Kumar's Thunivu, billed as a heist thriller, goes with the tagline "No Guts, No Glory". On the occasion of New Year's Eve, ending 2022 with a bright update, the makers of Thunivu have released the film's trailer.

The killer trailer opens up with dozen guns and bombs. And what seems to be a normal day at the "Your Bank" shatters as a masked Ajith and gang take hostage of the employees and customers. Ajith, as the gang leader, is all cool and stylish, robbing the bank without a care or worry in the world.

What should one do when a thief enters a bank? Ajith's character says, "Don't act like a hero, because I am here to do it." Government buildings, ships, and several other places blast into pieces. Manju Warrier's Kanmani bombs places and fires people, while Samuthirakani as Dayalan plays the honest cop trying to take down the thieves.

After his gang leader and thief-esque roles in hits like Billa (2007) and Mankatha (2011), Ajith gets to play the most-loved bad guy spewing punch dialogues, fighting and firing in this promising trailer of Thunivu. And brace up for more: The trailer gets better as it oozes Ajith's stylish moves as he dances holding those guns.

But why is he robbing a bank? Wait for Pongal 2023 to know!

Eight years after Ajith's Veeram and Vijay's Jilla clashed for Pongal in 2014, Kollywood is gearing up for the big Pongal 2023 battle between Ajith Kumar's Thunivu and Vijay's Varisu. It marks the third collaboration of Ajith and director H Vinoth after Nerkonda Paarvai (2019) and Valimai (2022).

To whet interest, the makers of Thunivu unveiled seven character posters before the trailer release, with only Ajith's character remaining a mystery. The film features Manju Warrier as Kanmani, Samuthirakani as Dayalan, Ajay as Ramachandran, GM Sundar as Muthazhagan, Veera as Radha, John Kokken as Krish, Bhagavathi Perumal as Rajesh, and Prem Kumar as Prem.

Ghibran has composed the music for the film. Nirav Shah, who has worked on the cinematography of Nerkonda Paarvai and Valimai, has cranked the camera.

Interestingly, the director-actor duo's last film Valimai was a Pongal release this year and the trailer was out on December 30, 2021. Ajith's previous Pongal release was Viswasam in 2019 which had the trailer release on December 30, 2018. December end trailers and Pongal releases have well now become a customary trademark of the Thunivu star, making the New Year and Pongal celebration even more special for his fans.
