In an interview with Film Companion, Diljit Dosanjh, who will be seen in director Imtiaz Ali’s next co-starring Parineeti Chopra, said that he could not act on a couch when asked to audition for the role in the film.

During the reading session for the film, Dosanjh had apparently requested Ali, to not ask him to act while Chopra acted few scenes during the session, “I’m afraid of readings than the shooting. To show one’s acting skills is something I don’t like to do. I had conveyed to Imtiaz sir that I won’t be able to do it [acting] and he didn’t force me. He is genuinely very sweet at heart.” He further added, “Parineeti did her dialogues well along with acting whereas I was going flat [laughs]. I said if I show all the acting now, what’s left for the finale shoot.”

Talking about Chopra’s acting skills, Dosanjh said, “I think Parineeti is a genuine actor because while she was sitting on a couch and rehearsing her dialogues it seemed as if the scene is actually taking place. So I call them [Chopra] as actors, because you can make them act wherever you want, on a couch or anywhere. I cannot act like this, I need a proper camera, proper dressup, start the shooting, only then I’m able to act.”

Dosanjh and Chopra will share the screen for the first time in Amar Singh Chamkila biopic, the Punjabi singer who was shot dead along with his wife by unidentified gunmen in 1988.
