Three's Company

The first third of #Manmarziyaan (2018) is an instant head rush. #AnuragKashyap, #AmitTrivedi and Aarti Bajaj are working at the height of their collaborative powers - individual contributions perfectly in sync to create a musical universe within a fairly grounded romantic triangle. Its average performance at the box office is truly puzzling.⁣

One would think the man who made #TheGodfather and #ApocalypseNow would get a lifetime blank check. Along comes One From The Heart (1982) - the most director-bankrupting, studio-shuttering flop that ever flopped and also one of the most madly ambitious, impressionistic musicals ever made. For some reason, we seem to repeatedly reject the men we love for making movies about war, when they make movies about love.⁣
