A.R. Rehman won multiple awards for 'Slumdog Millionaire'. Wining the 'Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Score and Original Song' at the Academy Awards, a BAFTA, a Golden Globe, a BMI Film and TV Award, the Critics' Choice Award, and a Grammy.
The Oscar nominated song 'If I Rise' won the 2011 Critics Choice Award in the 'Best Song' category. He shared the award with Dido and Rollo.
Rehman won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award and the National Film Award for Best Music Director in 1992 in one of his many collaborations with the director Mani Ratnam. The album has beautiful classics like 'Chinna Chinna Aasi' and 'Pudhu Vellai Mazhai'.
He won the National Film Award and the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director in 2001 for 'Lagaan'. The album had a beautiful collection of songs like 'Radha Kaise Na Jale' and 'Ghanan Ghanan' without which the film would be impossible to imagine.

The popular album got him the Filmfare Award and the IFFA Award for the Best Music Director in 2012. The album has a wide range of songs in different styles, ranging from Sufi music like 'Kun faya Kun' to Bhojpuri style pop like 'Sheher Mein' to Punjabi folk like 'Katiyan Karun' to Eastern European folk 'Hawa Hawa'.
