An outlier in the line-up, Nitesh Tiwari helmed a sports biopic – Dangal (2016) – with Aamir Khan serving as producer and lead actor. The film's success was expected, but not the scale of it. It grossed upwards of ₹500 crore domestically, which was one-fourth of its worldwide gross.
