Despite a massive budget of $137 million, "The Incredible Hulk" fell short of Universal's expectations at the box office. While foreign markets managed to boost the film's worldwide earnings to $245 million, it still didn't achieve the level of success the studio had hoped for.
The 2015 reboot of "Fantastic Four" struggled domestically, earning only $56 million, with an additional $111 million from foreign markets. This brought the film's worldwide total to a disappointing $167 million, just $47 million more than its $120 million budget.
With a budget reduced to $57 million, "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" faced challenges domestically, earning only $51 million. The movie found its saving grace in foreign markets, bringing its total box office earnings to $132 million.
Despite its relatively low budget of $43 million, the "Elektra" spin-off struggled to perform domestically, only bringing in $24 million. The foreign market contributed significantly, boosting the film's worldwide total to $56 million.
"Punisher: War Zone" faced major difficulties at the box office, earning a meager $2 million from the foreign market. This resulted in a total box office of $10 million, falling significantly short of the movie's $35 million budget.
"Dark Phoenix," part of the X-Men franchise, experienced mixed success. It performed decently in international markets but struggled domestically, resulting in a global box office performance that fell short of expectations.
Despite a budget of $37 million, "Howard the Duck" only managed to earn $16 million domestically. Its worldwide total amounted to $37.9 million, making it a commercial disappointment in the eyes of the studio.
